The JUKI AC-172N-1790 is a high-speed, computer-controlled automatic buttonholing indexer designed for sewing top-center plaits on garments such as men's dress shirts and ladies' blouses. It combines the high-performance LBH-1790 machine head with an automatic material handling system to significantly boost productivity and ensure consistent, high-quality buttonholes .

1. Preset Mechanism for Increased Productivity
The machine features a preset mechanism that allows the operator to place the next piece of fabric on the preset board while the machine is sewing the current one. This overlapping work function eliminates operator waiting time, enabling a single operator to attend to multiple machines and dramatically increasing efficiency .

2. Sub-Clamp Device for Pattern Matching
A newly developed sub-clamp mechanism prevents the material from slipping when it is transferred from the preset board to the sewing machine. This is particularly effective for sewing fabrics with vertical stripes (patterns), ensuring accurate positioning and consistent seam quality for pattern matching .

3. High-Performance Indexer Mechanism
A stepping motor controls the material feed in precise increments of 0.1 mm. This ensures stable and accurate feeding. The machine can sew 1 to 20 buttonholes on a single garment and store up to 20 different patterns in its memory for quick setup changes .

4. LBH-1790 High-Speed Machine Head
Equipped with the highly-regarded LBH-1790 machine head, which offers:

• A maximum sewing speed of 4,200 sti/min (stitches per minute) .

• An active tension system (electronic thread tension control) that switches tension between the parallel and bartack sections of the buttonhole for a beautiful finish .

• Fastening stitches to prevent thread unraveling at the end of sewing .

5. Oil-Free Operation (Dry Head)
Thanks to advanced dry-head technology, no lubrication is required except for the hook area, which receives a minute amount of clean oil. This eliminates the risk of oil stains on the sewing product. The machine can be made completely oil-free by installing the optional non-lubricated hook kit .

6. Built-in Stacker
A space-saving stacker is built into the main body. After sewing, it automatically stacks the finished garment bodies, further reducing manual handling and increasing overall work efficiency .

7. Enhanced Operability

• Knee Switch: Allows the operator to actuate the clamps using their knee, freeing up both hands to accurately position the fabric .

• IP-420 Control Panel: Features a large, color LCD touch panel that makes it easy to view sewing data, edit patterns, and switch between sewing specifications for men's and ladies' garments .
